Part 3: Is it true?

Hi, everyone.

Sorry for the long hiatus. I am super busy for the past months and lately I love to sleep early because I am so exhausted from work and life cehhhhhhhh!

*continue from previous post* *please endure, this is going to be the longest post ever*

I've got my tissue result. From the result, doctor told me that emm I'm having cancer. They saw cancer cells in it. Wow! I'm having cancer. Is it true? Is this really happening? I was numb and speechless. I cannot see my parents' reactions that time, I think they are far more shocked than me. I heard that baba asked like what type of cancer? Doctor answer: I'm not sure because we need to do a biopsy (minor operation) for confirmation.

All I know was, they're scheduling for biopsy. Doctor and nurse started to do paper works and schedule my biopsy. They asked me to go upstairs to see anaesthetist for biopsy. Went upstairs, waited for my name to be called. My name called, and I saw two doctors; male and female doctor. She checked and asked me if I'm allergic to any medicine. I said no. She later then signed the document which means I'm ok for biopsy. I went out, because she said that I can go home and wait for the day to do biopsy. Then my mom quickly told the doctor, I was having a bad cough. Doctor shocked hehe I almost forgot that I'm having a bad cough. She told me that she wouldn't approved me to do biopsy because it is dangerous and might effect my lungs. So, there you go I CAN'T DO BIOPSY UNTIL I'M FREE FROM COUGH.

I went downstairs, told the doctor that Mrs. Anaesthetist won't approved because I have a cough. He then fainted because don't know what to do hehe no, I'm joking only. He called his boss, asked how to do because my case was quite complicated. After few minutes phone call, he told me that I HAVE to the biopsy by hook or by crook. This because, they need to know what type of cancer I'm having and which stage I am at so that they can later do treatments for me. Then, they gave me new date for biopsy.

****

The following week which was a week before Ramadan start, I went to daycare unit to do biopsy. As far as I know that I'm strong I have to be strong but deep down I'm scared for surgery. Come on la, who doesn't? Later then, nurse checked my heart rate, asked me if I've eaten or not (I need to fast 6 hours before surgery) and then handed me the hospital attire (white piece dress hehe and a green skirt). I changed to new attire and nurse told me to stay in the bed until my turn arrive. They gave me food; butter crackers and hot milo drink. You know me, I'm always hungry. Oh I forgot to mentioned here that, there are types of surgeries which are general anaesthesia and local anaesthesia. You must be thinking what the heck am I saying? Tryna be a doctor, huh? Ok ok, calm down.

  1. General anaesthesia means doctor will inject medications that are used to make you go to sleep, so you're unaware of surgery and don't move or feel pain while it's carried out.
  2. Local anaesthesia means doctor will inject medications at only specific area to prevent any pain during surgical procedures.
Guess which type of surgery I'll be having? Yass, you're right! Local anaesthesia, guyssssssssss. That is why they allowed me to eat. From this point, I don't know what to feel. I'm already scared enough but alhamdulillah I have a calm doctor that will do my surgery. He told me the effects and all and even asked me whether I want to sit during surgery or lay down like normal (I'm having bad cough, remember? I can't lay down or I will starts to cough) I told him I want to lay down, just to make them feel easy and smooth throughout the surgery.

At 9 am, nurses start to take me to operation room/theatre. I've never sit on wheel chair before, so it's kinda fun journey before entering operation room/theatre. I kept asking the nurse if I'm heavy or not? I can walk from here to the room hehe the nurse is smaller than me of course I'm heavy. She told me not to worry hehe. Before entering the operation room, few nurses were with me to transfer me from wheel chair to wheel bed. Come on girls, I can jump la from wheel chair to bed, I'm not sick pun. My parents were outside, watching us. One of the nurse, asked my name, birth date, home address, what operation will I be having....this was normal procedure just to make sure that I'm fine. The funny part was, I heard the other nurse talking to each other 'cantik cantik ni kena operate ke?' 'tak semestinya cantik tak boleh operate' Oh girls, you made me laugh! Funniest ever. Later that, one of the nurse pushed my bed to the operation room while reciting bismillah and surah Al-Fatihah. Thank you :') I even waved goodbye to my parents.

Inside the room, my doctor Dr. Ameen and his assistant (I can't remember her name LOL don't judge. Her name was quite hard to remember hehe but I remember she's pregnant that time) preparing themselves for surgery; scrub and all, while the nurses helped with the machines and equipments. I prayed that everything went smooth and I don't cough a lot while surgery. Dr. Ameen showed his assistant the place where to do biopsy. He even drew onto my neck with marker just to mark the location (my neck is a canvas LOL). Nurses started to cover me with the green blankets. Layers and layers of blankets until I don't feel cold anymore. Dr. Ameen inject my neck with anaesthesia, until at some point I don't feel anything. So, my surgery began. He kept on reminding me if I feel pain, tell him. He's like a story-teller. First, he grabbed his knife and cut my neck hehe. Took a sucker because blood came out, I heard the sound of sucker, it sounded like when Edward Cullen suck blood from his victim LOL I watched too much movie. Then Dr. Ameen told me, he's going to cut more inside (I'm not sure, I couldn't see what he's doing to my neck) until he gets the cancer tissue. After few minutes, he said that he already have the tissue so need to stitch my skin. I heard the sound when he stitched! He even told me that his stitching method was bad. I laughed. Seriously, I laughed during surgery. After done with stitching and put bandage, WE ARE DONE ALHAMDULILLAH. Nurses prepared me to transfer to new bed and took me to the place where I've waited my turn before surgery. They checked my pulse just to see if I'm ok or not.

Dr. Ameen came to me and said that I can go home and have rest. He gave me two days of MC yay! And he told my parents that results will be out in another two weeks time.

I'll write my biopsy result on next post.

Thank you for reading.

X,
Nina.
